Jessica and James beautiful August wedding with a Catholic ceremony. Such a fun day. It was killer hot and we were all so thankful for the A/C in the flat and we were able to stay inside and take pictures in the cool air… but also WAY COOL architecture. So fun having this stunning Three Oaks Michigan venue so close to home.

This sunrise Shenandoah National Park gave us was so moody. It gave us so many colors and versions of itself the first half of our session before the sun slipped behind the morning clouds.
This hike ended up being a little longer than we originally thought, but I loved hitting the trail with Shelby + Daniel in formal wear. And that waterfall. Heart eyes!
Sweet Bella. This beautiful high school senior was once my neighbor and I BABYSAT HER. And now she’s graduating high school. Does that make me old? The kids I babysat are graduating????
Back in 2009 I was in the beginning days of my photography journey. I took a film photography class. I carried my dad’s old 35mm film camera with me everywhere. I was at the park with Bella and I snapped a darling photo of her sitting in a playground tube. (I have the negative still. I should reprint and share!).
And this summer I got to take her senior pictures for her 13 years later. I love when life comes full circle like this. These moments are beautiful and I am trying not to take them for granted.
Remember that weekend back in November that was like 70 degrees? Yeah, we lucked out on this sunny warm day. Looking forward to their wedding day this summer at the new Watermark Solarium. I did Erika’s sister’s wedding last summer (haven’t blogged it yet, way behind on my blogging). And now I get to do Erika’s and her fiancé, Elijah’s wedding!
Dana and Dillon braved the freezing rain with me for their session. But they made it so fun with their playful and adventurous spirits. You can’t even tell how cold it was! They are getting married at Inisfree Farm this summer and I’m so excited to photograph at another new venue.
I texted Amanda a couple hours before our scheduled session and told her it looked like it was going to be raining. I gave her the choice to reschedule or proceed with our scheduled time. She choose to keep the session even if it meant it might be raining. I love these types of brave and bold clients! Seriously the best. Well it rained… I mean poured for the first 20 minutes. The pictures don’t do the amount of rain justice. Then we decided to drive down to New Buffalo Beach. The clouds parted, the sun peaked through, a rainbow appeared. It was magical, beautiful and inspiring. Guys, great risk, great reward. The next day I found out a tornado had touched down during this storm about 45 minutes away from us in South Bend! So crazy! Enjoy these!
I’ve been watching photographer promo videos on Youtube for over a year now. I got tired of just watching and I sent an email off to an old friend. Josh Spear gladly accepted my request to create my own promotional video. After a vision meeting, we came up with a great plan. The August night of the shoot final arrived and it was windy, overcast and there was a chill in the air.
To be honest, I was disappointed that I wouldn’t get that sunny glory I always dream of for photos. But we couldn’t really reschedule at that point. We started at Greenbush and the clouds continued. We headed to the dunes next. We hiked the backside of the dune and the very second we got to the peak THE SUN CAME TO GREET US! Josh and I looked at each other and both BEAMED. It was every visual artist’s dream. That warm glow stayed and the night finished with a soft, pastel pink sunset. To say it was a dream would be an understatement.

Chris and Flory are the definition of young, vivacious and IN LOVE! Had a blast with them on their engagement session at Tiscornia Park. I'm looking forward to their wedding next spring at Shadowland Ballroom!
McKenzie wanted field and flower pictures. And I finally found the perfect spot near Second Nature Gardens in Stevensville. When they stepped out of the car, I knew we were going to have a great time together. Can't wait for their wedding in Grand Rapids next June!
